At 5:17 a.m., police responded to West 36th Street, on the report of two men, Xzavier Harris-Williams, a 21-year-old Jersey City resident and John Wilson, an 18-year-old Bayonne resident, attempting to break into vehicles, officers said. Police discovered Harris-Williams and Wilson had entered two parked vehicles and unsuccessfully attempted to enter two more.

A search of Wilson found a substantial amount of loose change and two sets of car keys, for a Mitsubishi and a Toyota, while Harris-Williams was found to be in possession of car keys belong to another vehicle, police said.

While police were processing the arrests, a caller reported their Mitsubishi was stolen near New Street, officers said. Police were able to use the Mitsubishi key Wilson had in his possession to locate and access the vehicle, officers said.

Harris-Williams was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of attempted burglary.
